Project 2025 Tanzania has started

This year, our foundation will support two projects.
In August, we will fly to Dar es Salaam and carry out work and activities at two organizations.

VALITA (Value Live Tanzania)

VALITA works with women living in extremely difficult economic circumstances. Most of these women are widows whose husbands died from HIV/AIDS. These women are left with a large number of children to care for. Some have no source of income, while others are involved in selling illegal local alcohol. Some of the women are very old and depend on young children to work or beg on the streets.

They focus on supporting orphans and caregivers with their physical and emotional needs, as they are at high risk of becoming infected with HIV/AIDS. Our efforts are aimed at addressing situations that continue to accelerate the spread of the HIV/AIDS virus. In this context, VALITA works and consults with caregivers and orphans. VALITA’s main concern is helping orphans—children need our support and guidance before their future is derailed—so that they can grow up fully integrated into the community and avoid becoming infected with the deadly virus.

They have a preference for helping children because we want them to continue their education while supporting their physical and psychological needs. We provide HIV/AIDS education to both orphans and caregivers.

What we will do at Valita

At Valita, we will have a workshop space built—funded by the foundation—where women can learn skills that will enable them to support themselves.
Construction of this space has already begun; see photos below.

Once the building is completed, the women from our volunteer team will paint and furnish the space. In addition, they will also offer workshops to women and children.

Kituo Cha Baba Oreste

The Baba Oreste Daycare Centre was opened in 2008 with the goal of helping children in the Bunju area. In particular, the centre accommodates children with disabilities and those who, for various reasons, do not attend school. The “Baba Oreste” centre welcomes vulnerable children regardless of race, tribe, or religion.

The children are offered educational and recreational activities aimed at improving their personal and social development. These activities are tailored to each child so they can develop their skills and potential.
The centre also supports the families the children come from: parents, especially mothers, can be assured that their children are being cared for in a serene and welcoming environment. In addition, parents are invited to attend regular meetings where they are informed about the activities being carried out and other matters related to their children’s development.

What we will do at Kituo

We have known Kituo since 2019, and every time we are in Dar es Salaam, we carry out activities with the children.
The male volunteers from our team will mainly be active at Kituo. They will help with the activities, possibly carry out minor maintenance, and also provide football training. At the end of our project, we plan to organize an actual football match against a team from another NGO in Dar es Salaam.

Additionally, Kituo has set up a small music studio in an existing space (see video). They were still looking for sponsors to help furnish the studio—think microphones, cables, chairs, computers, and so on.
From the fundraising efforts of all participants in the 2025 trip, we have decided to fully equip the studio so they can begin using it.
