After our project in Tanzania, we – Nicole, Monique and Branko – travelled on to Zimbabwe. The goal: to connect with schools and organisations and explore opportunities for collaboration in 2026.
Our first stop was Lupinyu Primary School, a community school about 30 minutes from Victoria Falls. We met with the headmaster and spent two days running activities with the children. This gave us valuable insight into their needs, such as building foundations for new prefab classrooms. On one of those classrooms we noticed the name of Children in the Wilderness (CITW) – which led to an inspiring meeting with their team.
Through CITW, Dominic Nyathi introduced us to Mkhosana Adventist Primary School, where one class is dedicated to children with disabilities. Talking with their teacher, Ms B, we discovered opportunities to return and contribute through workshops.
We also met Hannah and Savanna from Wild Hope, an organisation committed to supporting vulnerable children in Victoria Falls through an after-school programme that fosters wellbeing, a connection to nature, and practical skills.
Finally, we visited Steff in Monde Village, where the organisation Rescue Dogs for Wildlife Conservation trains shelter dogs for new purposes – from tracking and anti-poaching to, more recently, medical assistance.
These encounters left us inspired and grateful. Zimbabwe touched us with its warmth, resilience, and opportunities. We are now looking forward to returning in 2026 to make an impact together with our new partners.
