Messages from MOKICCO are posted here to keep you informed about their developments.
Thank you very much for the prayers and support MOKICCO received during the summer. The children and youth in Tanzania are doing well. Some young people have finished their studies and are now looking for jobs or have started working. Hezekiah Mtui came to MOKICCO when he was 8 years old. Now he is a young adult, has an education, and is employed. He writes:
PRAISED BE THE LORD JESUS.
My name is Hezekiah. In a special way, I want to thank God for you, because you have been an important part of my life. You have been a big reason why I have been able to grow, receive help, and get the opportunity to realize my future and my dreams.
I came to MOKICCO when I was eight years old, and today I am 23 years old. During the time I was at MOKICCO, I received a good upbringing and a good education, which has become an important foundation for my life. Today I have a certificate in evangelism as well as a diploma in church music.
Despite the progress I have made, I am aware that I also have younger siblings who need support. I have a desire to help them so that they can gain knowledge and skills that can be useful for their future.
If possible, I would like to start a class in trumpet playing to teach them, so that they can gain musical skills that can help them become independent and earn money through their knowledge, while at the same time being able to meet some of their own needs.
I am very grateful that you have been by my side and for the great contribution you have made to my life. May God continue to bless you, protect you, and fill your lives with His blessings.
Thank you very much, and may God bless you.
Amen.
In the middle of July, I visited the Dutch town of Boxtel, located outside Amsterdam. I visited a MOKICCO friend, Marion de Koning, founder of the foundation “All for the future”, with the goal of supporting primary schools, single mothers, poor children who need medical care, and helping young people with an education that can lead to a job and a better future. Since 2022, the foundation has helped MOKICCO a lot: lunch for children whose parents could not afford to pay, supporting the day center in Marangu, and now they support two of our MOKICCO youth, Joseph Shao and Loveness Lomboi. Joseph is taking a course on starting his own travel agency. I had the privilege of meeting the foundation and telling them about MOKICCO’s work, challenges, future plans, and dreams. Naturally, thanking them for their help not only for the MOKICCO children but also for all the many Tanzanian children they have helped. We had very good conversations about cooperation with MOKICCO, especially regarding the youth.
Renovation and preparations to improve the vocational school in Mwangaria continue. Gelsom writes:
My name is Gelsom Yusto, and I work as a volunteer responsible for supporting and coordinating development projects at Mokicco Mission School. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity and trust I have received to serve in this role and to be able to contribute my time, knowledge, and dedication to improving the school’s learning environment and facilities.
Currently, I have been closely involved in overseeing several important initiatives aimed at improving student well-being as well as strengthening the school’s teaching and residential facilities. These projects include renovating the dormitory, purchasing tables and chairs, and purchasing bunk beds and mattresses for them. I am pleased to report that the renovation of the dormitory and the purchase of tables and chairs have been successfully completed. The purchase and installation of the bunk beds and mattresses are also in the final stages.
These successes would not have been possible without the support, commitment, and trust of our sponsors, donors, and organizational management. As we look back on the progress made, I would also like to make a special appeal to our donors, sponsors, partners, and benefactors to continue and, if possible, increase their support for Mokicco Mission School. Continued investment in the school will help create better educational conditions, improve student housing and well-being, strengthen the school’s vocational training facilities, and give more young people the opportunity to acquire practical skills that can contribute to a sustainable future.
I wish you a good continuation of the autumn,
with all of God’s blessings,
Overa Seka Sahlberg
